Powering Louisiana is a project of the Southern Renewable Energy Association, an organization representing renewable energy stakeholders across the Southeastern United States. SREA brings together policymakers, local residents, and developers to advocate for practical, inclusive power solutions.
Mission Statement:
As large industrial power users continue helping to grow the economy of our state - and to position Louisiana to take the lead in the economy of the future - we must modernize our aging grid to keep up with the increased power demands from all of Louisiana electricity users, both residential and business. Strengthening transmission, expanding storage, and embracing diverse energy sources will help ensure reliability while managing environmental impacts on our diverse coastal ecosystems.
Powering Louisiana mobilizes diverse stakeholders across the state to advance transparent, evidence-based renewable energy policies. We co-create practical energy solutions that deliver reliable, affordable power for all Louisianans today, while building a stronger, more resilient future for generations to come.
Powering Louisiana serves the people by advocating for affordable power and a more resilient grid. We believe reliable electricity is foundational to families’ well-being and to local economies. By uniting policymakers, communities, and developers, we work to strengthen the grid so outages are shorter and less frequent. Our goal is to empower every neighborhood and every parish with access to dependable power, reduce energy burdens, and build grid resilience against rising energy costs and extreme weather.
- Why we do it: Energy is a backbone of everyday life - homes, schools, healthcare, and small businesses rely on it. When energy is affordable and reliable, families have less financial stress, and communities attract investment and opportunity.
- What we stand for: Open, inclusive dialogue; policies grounded in data; and practical solutions that prioritize people over profits.
- Our impact: A stronger, more resilient grid; predictable energy costs; better emergency readiness; and a strong economic future for Louisiana.
